Disturbing Video Shows Instant Officers Are Stabbed in Ambush

Both Sergeants Moments Prior to the Assailant Was Tasered

A police sergeant who rushed to the assistance of a colleague that was assaulted by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he pressed a weapon to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the officers and their partner, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a traffic accident in Whalley Range in mid-2023.

Brown knifed and cut both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Officer stabbed," the constable was heard to say over his radio.

Bodyworn and dashcam recording made public by the agency showed Brown, that was clothed in dark clothing with a hood up, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He struck the policeman who stumbled and went down to the ground, before Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor although being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
